The Giant Centipede

A Dangerous Discovery Near the School Fence

This morning, school workers made a shocking discovery near the school fence—a huge and dangerous centipede was crawling slowly inside the drain. Its long, segmented body and fast, slithering movement immediately raised concern. What made the creature even more terrifying was its colour—deep black with bright red markings. These warning colours are often a sign in nature that an animal is poisonous or harmful, and in this case, they were enough to alert everyone that this centipede could be a real danger.

The workers acted quickly and informed the school administration. With the help of the maintenance team, the creature was safely removed from the school compound. No one was harmed, but the incident caused fear among students and teachers, especially since the drain near the fence is close to the path where students usually walk during assembly time or outdoor activities.

Centipedes of this kind are known to be venomous, and their bite can cause intense pain, swelling, or allergic reactions. Their appearance on school grounds suggests that the surrounding areas may need better cleaning and pest control efforts. After the centipede was taken away, the area was thoroughly cleaned, and insect repellent was sprayed to prevent similar dangers.

The school reminded all students to stay alert and report anything unusual they see. This morning's discovery was a strong reminder that nature can sometimes enter our space—and we must always be prepared.

"Proud Moment: Students Selected to Represent School in Sports Events"

This morning marked an exciting moment at our school as a shortlist of students was officially selected to represent us in the upcoming sports competitions. The atmosphere was filled with anticipation and energy as students eagerly awaited the announcement. Teachers and coaches had been observing the students' performance over the past few weeks, carefully evaluating their strengths, discipline, teamwork, and dedication.

The selection process was not easy, as many students showed impressive skills and potential. However, only a limited number could be shortlisted for each category, including athletics, football, netball, badminton, and other events. Those who were selected displayed not only talent but also a strong attitude of commitment and sportsmanship.

For many of these students, this is a proud moment and a valuable opportunity to develop their abilities further. Participation in sports not only promotes physical health but also builds confidence, leadership, and resilience. The selected students will now begin their training sessions more intensively under the guidance of their coaches and teachers.

To those who were not selected this time, we encourage them to keep trying and continue practising. Every effort counts, and there will always be more opportunities in the future.

We look forward to seeing our students shine at the competitions and represent the school with pride. More importantly, we hope they will enjoy the journey, support one another, and grow as individuals through this experience. Congratulations to all shortlisted students – your hard work has paid off!

A New Chapter Begins: The Stunning Transformation of SK Gual To'Deh’s Meeting Room

After years of serving its purpose with quiet dedication, the meeting room at SK Gual To'Deh has finally received a long-overdue makeover—and the results are truly breathtaking. With just a few simple, budget-friendly materials and a clear vision in mind, this humble space has been transformed into a luxurious and inspiring room, ready to welcome teachers, guests, and administrators with elegance and warmth.

This transformation didn’t happen overnight. It took about a month to complete, not because of the size of the task, but due to the careful selection and waiting process for certain decorative items to arrive—like artificial flowers, meaningful wall stickers, and a beautiful Islamic hanging frame that now takes pride of place on the feature wall.

ðŸŒļ Simplicity Meets Elegance
What’s remarkable is how simple and affordable items have been used to craft such a refined look. The flowers add soft, peaceful vibes to the corners of the room. Inspirational wall stickers breathe positivity into the space. The Islamic frame, on the other hand, adds a touch of identity and spirituality, reminding us of our shared values—humility, reflection, and unity.

The colour palette has been kept gentle and cohesive, creating a calm and focused atmosphere perfect for meetings, discussions, and reflection. The new decor gives the room a refreshed energy—a feeling that something new and hopeful is happening.

🕋 More Than Just Decoration
This is not just about improving a physical space. It’s about reviving the spirit of the room. For more than a decade, this meeting room served its function without fuss. But now, it tells a story of growth, creativity, and pride. It represents our school's journey—how we continue to move forward, even with limited resources, through passion and vision.

💎 A Space That Inspires
Since the makeover, many teachers and visitors have shared their admiration. Some have even said the room feels more “alive” and “motivating.” It’s now a place where ideas can flourish, where decisions feel more meaningful, and where everyone feels valued.

🎉 A Celebration of Change
We hope this renovation inspires others in the school community to believe in the power of small efforts. With creativity, patience, and intention, any space can become beautiful. Most importantly, this project shows that what truly makes a space luxurious is not the cost, but the heart behind it.

To all who contributed ideas and encouragement—thank you. Our meeting room now stands as a symbol of progress, teamwork, and dedication. It’s more than a room—it’s a reflection of who we are and what we believe in at SK Gual To’Deh.

"May this beautiful space continue to inspire great ideas, collaboration, and meaningful decisions."

A Joyous and Unique Twin-Themed Event

Teacher's Day Celebration at SK Gual To'Deh

The morning of May 21, 2025, was filled with excitement and anticipation at SK Gual To'Deh as the school held its annual Teacher’s Day celebration, a cherished event in the school calendar. This year, the celebration took on a unique twist with the theme “Twin”, where teachers were encouraged to dress in identical outfits with their chosen "twin." The theme brought smiles and laughter as it was something rarely seen in the school, making it a memorable and meaningful occasion for all.

The celebration began promptly at 7.45 a.m. with a colorful parade featuring all the teachers dressed in their matching outfits. The school compound was vibrant with coordinated colors, cheerful faces, and the buzzing excitement of pupils and staff alike. The twin theme was not only fun but also symbolized the unity, harmony, and strong bond among the teachers of SK Gual To’Deh. It showcased their creativity, teamwork, and willingness to embrace joy and togetherness.

After the parade, the event moved into one of its most anticipated segments – the cooking session. Teachers were divided into several groups based on their administrative roles: the Headmaster’s Group, PKP Group, PKHEM Group, and PKKO Group. Each group took part in preparing a variety of delicious dishes, bringing their best culinary skills to the table. The school compound was soon filled with delightful aromas of traditional and modern Malaysian cuisine. Teachers laughed, chopped, stirred, and grilled together, further strengthening their camaraderie.

This hands-on activity reflected more than just cooking; it was a display of collaboration, respect, and mutual appreciation among colleagues. Some teachers shared family recipes while others tried new cooking techniques, creating an atmosphere that was both educational and festive. The cooking session ended with everyone enjoying the freshly prepared meals together, turning the school into a mini food festival.

In the spirit of gratitude and appreciation, students also played a meaningful role in the celebration. Many came to school with handmade cards, beautifully wrapped gifts, and sincere words of thanks for their beloved teachers. Some pupils performed short skits and recited poems, while others sang heartfelt songs, expressing their love and respect. The joy on the teachers’ faces was evident, and many were touched by the kind gestures from their students.

Overall, the 2025 Teacher’s Day celebration at SK Gual To’Deh was not only festive but also heartwarming. The “Twin” theme added a delightful and creative touch to the event, while the cooking activity brought out the teamwork and hidden talents of the educators. The pupils’ involvement further enriched the occasion, reminding everyone of the strong connection between teachers and students. It was a day filled with appreciation, laughter, and shared memories – a true reflection of the spirit of teaching and the impact teachers have on young lives.

A Father's Reflection and Hope

A Letter to My Son, Hannan Haikal

Today marks a significant milestone in your life, Hannan Haikal — the beginning of your final year practicum at SMK Bandar Baru Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. As you step into this new chapter, my heart is filled with a mix of pride, hope, and deep reflection. Seeing you put on the teacher’s attire, stepping into a classroom not as a student, but as a role model, fills me with emotions that are difficult to express in words.

You are now closer than ever to becoming what you have worked so hard to be — an educator. A teacher. A shaper of young minds. It is not just a profession, Hannan; it is a calling. And I believe, with all my heart, that you have been called for this. I have watched you grow from a curious little boy into a young man with passion, resilience, and dedication. You are now carrying the torch of knowledge forward, and with that, the responsibility to touch lives, inspire growth, and open doors for your future students — just like many teachers have done for you.

As a teacher myself, I know the challenges that lie ahead. Teaching is not always easy. It demands patience when students struggle, strength when results are slow, and empathy when students bring their life burdens into your classroom. But I also know that teaching is one of the most rewarding journeys. The sparkle in a student’s eyes when they finally understand, the gratitude that follows long after they leave your class, and the legacy that grows with every child you help — that is the true reward.

Your journey through Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia has brought you here, and I hope you see this practicum not only as a requirement, but as a doorway to explore your true potential. Listen to your students, observe your mentors, and always remain humble. There is no shame in learning from mistakes; in fact, they are our greatest teachers. Keep your heart open and your mind eager — because every day in school is a chance to grow, both professionally and personally.

Son, I want you to know that your journey is not only for you. Whether you realize it or not, you are paving the way for your younger siblings too. You are their role model. They look up to you and they see in you what is possible with effort, focus, and faith. Your actions, your attitude, your discipline — they are all silently guiding them. You are the eldest, and that responsibility is not small. But I see how you carry it with grace, and for that, I am grateful.

Sometimes I think about the time I have left in this world. None of us know how long we will live, and I have come to accept that life is not measured by years alone, but by the love we give, the lessons we share, and the people we raise. If my time comes tomorrow or ten years from now, I want you to know this: you have already made me proud. More than any award or recognition, your determination and heart are what make me proud to be your father.

My wish for you, Hannan, is simple. I want you to be a good son — which you already are — and a kind person. I want you to continue spreading light wherever you go. Be a source of comfort and hope to others. Stay grounded. Stay grateful. No matter how far life takes you, never forget your roots. Remember our family, remember our struggles, and remember that everything you are becoming is because you dared to dream and worked hard to reach that dream.

As you walk through the halls of SMK Bandar Baru Ampang, know that my prayers walk with you. I pray that you find joy in your teaching, that you learn from the best, and that you become the kind of teacher who leaves a mark on his students — not just in their grades, but in their lives.

May your practicum journey be full of lessons, laughter, and meaningful experiences. May it prepare you well for the path ahead. And most of all, may it remind you of your purpose: to educate, to inspire, and to lead.

And when you feel tired, uncertain, or overwhelmed, just remember this — you are never alone. I am here, cheering you on, quietly but proudly from a distance. I am your father, and nothing brings me more joy than seeing you chase your dreams with courage and sincerity.

With all my heart

The Curse of Tutankhamun

Teaching Reflection: Introducing "The Curse of Tutankhamun" to Year 4 Students

Today, my Year 4 English class explored a fascinating and mysterious topic titled The Curse of Tutankhamun. This was a fresh and unfamiliar subject for my students, many of whom had never heard of ancient Egyptian history or the concept of a "curse." However, the topic quickly piqued their interest due to its element of mystery, historical depth, and dramatic storytelling. As a teacher, it was both challenging and rewarding to introduce such content to young learners.

To begin, I provided a simple and age-appropriate explanation of who Tutankhamun was — a young pharaoh of Ancient Egypt — and the story behind the discovery of his tomb in 1922 by British archaeologist Howard Carter. I also explained how some people believed that a curse was placed on anyone who entered the tomb, especially after the mysterious deaths that followed the excavation.

Recognizing that the content could be complex or abstract for primary school learners, I decided to incorporate multimedia to enhance their understanding and engagement. I selected a few child-friendly YouTube videos that discussed the story of Tutankhamun and the so-called "curse" in a way that was both informative and entertaining. These videos included animated storytelling, historical visuals, and simplified English narration. The use of visuals helped my students grasp the historical context, cultural setting, and the mystery surrounding the tomb more effectively.

While watching the videos, students showed genuine curiosity. I observed their facial expressions, body language, and spontaneous questions — signs of active learning and engagement. Some asked, “Is the curse real, teacher?” while others were amazed by the golden mask of Tutankhamun shown in the videos. Their responses reflected not only interest but also critical thinking, as they tried to differentiate between fact and myth.

After the video session, we had a short discussion. I encouraged them to share what they had learned and to express their opinions on whether they believed in the curse. This activity helped them practise their speaking skills in English, while also developing confidence to speak about new and challenging topics. Some students even made connections to what they had learned in moral or history classes, showing interdisciplinary learning.

In conclusion, today’s lesson was a successful attempt to introduce historical content in an engaging and meaningful way. The use of YouTube videos was particularly effective in supporting visual and auditory learners. More importantly, it opened a new window for students to explore the world beyond their textbooks and to develop curiosity about ancient civilizations. I plan to incorporate more cross-curricular topics and multimedia in future lessons to sustain this level of excitement and learning.

Farewell Ceremony for Ustaz Mohd Noor and Practicum Teachers Amar and Iqbal

A heartfelt farewell ceremony was held at the SK Gual To'Deh hall to bid goodbye to three beloved educators: Ustaz Mohd Noor, who will be transferring to SK Gelang Mas, and two practicum teachers, Amar and Iqbal, from Open University Malaysia (OUM), who have successfully completed their teaching practicum at the school.

The event was attended by the entire school community, including teachers, staff, and students, all gathered to show their appreciation and gratitude. The atmosphere was filled with mixed emotions as students and teachers came together to honour the contributions made by these three individuals during their time at SK Gual To'Deh.

The ceremony began with welcoming remarks by the emcee, followed by speeches from the school headmaster, student and senior teacher. They expressed their thanks to Ustaz Mohd Noor for his dedication and commitment to religious and moral education, noting the positive influence he has had on students’ discipline and character development.

Amar and Iqbal also received praise and recognition for their enthusiasm and hard work throughout their practicum. They were described as energetic, friendly, and deeply involved in both classroom teaching and school activities. Their presence brought fresh ideas and inspiration to the school environment.

The highlight of the ceremony was the farewell speeches given by the three honourees. Ustaz Mohd Noor shared his heartfelt memories and encouraged the students to continue striving for excellence. Amar and Iqbal expressed their gratitude to the school for the valuable experience, guidance, and warm hospitality they received during their stay.

Following the speeches, a special gift presentation was held, with tokens of appreciation given to each of them. Students then gathered around to personally thank and bid farewell to their teachers. Warm handshakes, hugs, and emotional goodbyes were exchanged, especially among students who had developed a close bond with them.

The farewell ceremony ended on a touching note, leaving lasting memories for everyone involved. The SK Gual To'Deh family wishes Ustaz Mohd Noor, Amar, and Iqbal all the best in their future endeavours. Their legacy will continue to inspire students and staff for years to come.

The Heirloom House: Between Hope and the Reality of Sibling Bonds

LUBOK JONG - The ancestral house left by my late father and mother in Kampung Tok Sangkut is more than just an old wooden structure standing on inherited land. It is a symbol of love, memories, and the family history that raised us all. Every creaking floorboard and every cracked wall holds laughter and nostalgia from our childhood that can never be bought again. A few weeks ago, I made the decision to buy the heirloom land, hoping to preserve our family’s legacy and breathe new life into the aging home. But things did not turn out as I had hoped.

At first, this decision was received well. I felt happy knowing that I could do something meaningful to revive the land left behind by our parents. It was not for personal gain or pride, but to ensure that the values of family connected to that land would continue to live on. I dreamed of the house becoming a place for us to gather during Eid, a space for our children to play, and a living tribute to the love of our late parents.

However, it didn’t take long before I began to hear whispers—hurtful words from behind my back. Some of my siblings began to question my intentions. Some thought I wanted to “take control” of the land. Others made sarcastic remarks, as if I was trying to claim something that wasn’t mine alone. They didn’t speak to me directly, but the words eventually reached my ears, cutting deep into my heart. And yet, my intention was sincere—purely for the good of everyone.

I never counted the cost, willing even to spend my own money to renovate the house. But when sincerity is met with suspicion, and love is returned with doubt, I realized that perhaps the rezeki (blessing) to own and take care of the house was never meant for me. With a heavy heart, I withdrew. I canceled my plans to buy and manage the land. Not because I couldn’t afford it, but because I could not bear to see our sibling relationships suffer over a piece of land.

In our culture, heirloom land is not just property. It is a symbol of unity and continuity of the family. Ironically, however, it can also be the source of conflict and division. When our parents were alive, things were easier to manage under one voice. But once they’re gone, land that should unite us often turns into fire that burns the very ties of kinship.

My heart is broken not because of the money I’ve spent, but because the love between siblings, which I thought was strong, turned out to be fragile. I never imagined that my good intentions would be the reason for misunderstanding and mistrust. I miss the days when we were little, playing in the yard of that house, never thinking about ownership or gain.

This experience has taught me an important lesson: preserving family relationships is far more valuable than owning heirloom land. I accept this as God’s way of protecting me from a greater trial. Even though I no longer own the land physically, the memories and love for my late parents will always live in my heart. That house will forever be a symbol of my devotion to our family—even if I can only view it from beyond the gate.

I pray that one day, my siblings will also see that heirloom land is not a possession to be fought over, but a shared legacy of the soul that must be preserved together. And I pray that this heartbreak will heal, slowly, with sincere prayers and a heart that continues to love, unconditionally.

My Unforgettable Umrah Journey to the Holy Lands of Makkah and Madinah (2023)

In 2023, I was blessed with an unforgettable opportunity to perform Umrah with my beloved wife. It was a spiritual journey that left a deep imprint on my heart and soul. For the very first time in my life, I boarded the majestic Airbus A380 operated by Saudia Airlines. Flying on such a massive jetliner was a unique experience in itself. The flight from Kuala Lumpur to Jeddah took more than 10 hours, and although it was long, the excitement and emotion of fulfilling this religious obligation made the time pass quickly.

Upon arriving in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, we were greeted by the scorching desert heat. It was nearly 45 degrees Celsius, and every step outside the air-conditioned terminal reminded us of the physical test that awaited us. Yet, our hearts were strong with faith, and the burning sun could not deter our spiritual mission.

The first moment I laid eyes on the Kaabah in Masjidil Haram, Makkah, is a memory I will carry for the rest of my life. Words failed me. The sacred structure, majestic and serene, stood in front of me in real life after years of seeing it only in pictures and on television. Tears welled up in my eyes—not just because of the beauty of the Kaabah, but because it brought back memories of my family, my past, and the journey of my life. I cried each time I saw it, overwhelmed by gratitude and humility. Each tawaf felt like I was being embraced by Allah’s mercy.

Before our time in Makkah, we spent several days in the radiant city of Madinah. It was peaceful and filled with a special calmness. I visited Masjid Nabawi daily, and one of the most precious moments of my entire journey was being able to spend over 30 minutes inside Raudah, the most sacred area between the Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) house and pulpit. Alhamdulillah, I was fortunate as many pilgrims don’t always get this chance. In that moment, surrounded by history and holiness, I prayed silently with tears streaming down my cheeks, feeling incredibly close to the Prophet and to Allah.

After our time in Madinah, we experienced another highlight: riding the high-speed Haramain train from Madinah to Makkah. The journey was smooth and efficient, with beautiful desert views along the way. It was amazing to see how modern technology and historical spirituality came together on this land.

Back in Makkah, apart from performing Umrah, I also had the chance to visit the library inside Masjidil Haram. It was a hidden gem for me, a place filled with rare Islamic texts, historical references, and a peaceful atmosphere perfect for reflection and study. Sitting there in silence, reading the words of scholars and imams from centuries past, I felt a deep connection to the rich history of Islam.

This Umrah trip in 2023 was not just a physical journey, but a spiritual awakening. It reminded me of who I am, where I come from, and where I am going. I returned home with a renewed heart, greater faith, and endless gratitude to Allah for allowing me this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

A Fresh Chapter Begins: The Elegant Makeover of the Meeting Room at SK Gual To'Deh

After a few decades of maintaining the same layout and design, the meeting room at SK Gual To'Deh has finally been given a fresh and elegant transformation. Once a space filled with worn-out furniture and outdated decor, the room has now evolved into a modern, welcoming environment—thanks to the creative effort of a passionate teacher and the generous sponsorship by the English Panel.

The idea for the makeover came from Mdm Sarina, a respected senior leader at the school, who envisioned a more vibrant and inspiring space for staff discussions and planning sessions. With that vision in mind, the task was entrusted to Sir Mazeri  (āļ„ุāļ“āđāļĄāļ•āļ•ื) , who took on the challenge of revamping the room while working within a limited budget.

Using trendy and affordable items sourced from TikTok shops, the room was transformed with clever, low-cost solutions. Contemporary furniture covers, warm lighting, and minimalist decorations were used to breathe new life into the space. Elegant curtains, neatly organized resources, and motivational wall quotes created a professional yet cozy atmosphere, encouraging collaboration and positive engagement among staff members.

A striking highlight of the new meeting room is a beautifully arranged bouquet of Calla Lily, sponsored by the English Panel. The bouquet features a vibrant combination of red and yellow flowers that instantly brighten the room. Not only does the Calla Lily symbolize elegance, transformation, and creativity, but the brilliant color mix also energizes the space and reflects the spirit of teamwork and innovation.

The newly designed meeting room now serves as more than just a venue for discussions—it is a symbol of change, progress, and school pride. Teachers and staff have responded positively to the transformation, noting how the improved environment boosts morale and fosters a more engaging setting for school planning.

This successful project proves that transformation does not always require a large budget. With vision, teamwork, and the support of the English Panel, the meeting room at SK Gual To'Deh now stands as a shining example of how creativity and commitment can bring lasting impact to a school’s culture and environment.
