I had a great experience at Kg Pos Pulat

When I was offered a teaching position at SK Pulat, an indigenous school situated in the Gua Musang district, I knew it was an incredible opportunity that I couldn't pass up. Although I had never been there before, I eagerly accepted the job and began teaching on January 17th, 2000. Despite the fact that the school was located in a remote forest village, I viewed it as a challenge and a chance to step out of my comfort zone. Looking back, that experience was one of the most rewarding and fulfilling moments of my career. I did not expect to teach in a village far in the forest. However, I don't think negatively and I consider that as a challenge as a teacher.

The breathtaking sight of the village, nestled in the midst of the wild terrain, left me spellbound. Though the journey to get there took an hour and a half, the experience was well worth the effort, particularly on a day with clear skies. However, when it rains, the commute can extend to over three hours. The forest walk was a rejuvenating experience, with the sounds of nature that I had never encountered before. As I delved further, I observed logging workers in the vicinity, indicative of the flourishing local industry.

As I arrived in the village, I felt a wave of excitement and curiosity rush over me. Everything was new and unfamiliar, but I was eager to dive into this new experience. I knew I would be living and working here for the next few years, but I couldn't wait to immerse myself in the local culture and learn from the native people who call this place home. As we walked through the forest, a group of children followed us, their eyes shining with curiosity and wonder. For the first time, I saw the faces of the people who would soon become my students and friends. And I knew that this was the beginning of a truly transformative journey.

Past and Present

"Kg Pos Pulat was an incredible experience for me. I enjoyed every moment of my time there and was left with unforgettable memories. I highly recommend visiting this amazing place to anyone looking for an adventure and a chance to explore new cultures."

Education in Kelantan

Kelantan is a state located in the northeastern part of Peninsular Malaysia. Education in Kelantan, like in the rest of Malaysia, is primarily governed and managed by the Malaysian Ministry of Education. Here are some key aspects of education in Kelantan:

1. Primary and Secondary Education: Kelantan, like other states in Malaysia, follows a system of primary education (6 years) followed by secondary education (5 years). Primary education starts at age 7, while secondary education starts at age 13.

2. School System: The school system in Kelantan, as in the rest of Malaysia, includes government schools, private schools, and religious schools (known as "sekolah agama"). Government schools use either Malay or English as the medium of instruction, with Malay being more common.

3. Islamic Education: Kelantan, being a state with a majority Muslim population, places significant emphasis on Islamic education. In addition to mainstream education, there are Islamic schools (Pondok schools or madrasahs) that provide education focused on Islamic studies alongside secular subjects.

4. Higher Education: Kelantan is home to several higher education institutions, including universities and colleges. The most prominent higher education institution in Kelantan is Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), which offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

5. Language of Instruction: Malay is the primary language of instruction in most schools in Kelantan, consistent with the national education policy. However, English is also taught as a second language, and there are schools that use English as the medium of instruction, especially in subjects like science and mathematics.

6. Government Initiatives: The Malaysian government, including the state government of Kelantan, has implemented various initiatives to improve the quality of education in the state. This includes infrastructure development, teacher training programs, and curriculum enhancements.

Challenges: Like in other parts of Malaysia, education in Kelantan faces challenges such as disparities in access to quality education between urban and rural areas, teacher shortages, and the need to adapt to changing global demands while preserving cultural and religious values.

Overall, education in Kelantan reflects the broader Malaysian education system, with efforts to provide accessible and quality education while balancing the cultural and religious aspects specific to the state.

One of the significant achievements related to education in Kelantan is the establishment and growth of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK). UMK was established on 14 June 2006 and is one of the newer universities in Malaysia. Its establishment marked a milestone in higher education, particularly in the state of Kelantan.

UMK has since played a crucial role in providing tertiary education opportunities for students in Kelantan and the surrounding regions. It offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various fields including agriculture, agro-industry, entrepreneurship, business, engineering, and information technology. Some key achievements and contributions of UMK to education in Kelantan include: Expansion of Higher Education Opportunities: UMK has contributed significantly to increasing access to higher education in Kelantan. By offering diverse programs, it has attracted students from different backgrounds and provided them with opportunities for academic and personal growth. Research and Innovation: UMK has been actively involved in research and innovation, particularly in areas relevant to the local community such as agriculture, rural development, and sustainability. Its research endeavors have contributed to addressing regional challenges and promoting economic development. Community Engagement: The university has been engaged in various community outreach programs, including knowledge transfer initiatives, community development projects, and collaborations with local industries and organizations. These efforts have helped bridge the gap between academia and society, fostering mutual benefit and sustainable development. Employability and Entrepreneurship: UMK places a strong emphasis on enhancing students' employability and entrepreneurial skills. Through industry partnerships, internships, and entrepreneurship programs, it has helped equip graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the job market or start their ventures. Cultural and Social Enrichment: UMK's presence has enriched the cultural and social landscape of Kelantan. It serves as a hub for intellectual discourse, cultural events, and community activities, contributing to the overall well-being and vibrancy of the region. Overall, the establishment and growth of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan represent a significant achievement in the realm of education in Kelantan. It has not only expanded educational opportunities but also fostered research, innovation, community engagement, and socio-economic development in the state and beyond.

Ethos at SK Gual To'Deh

Ethos is a Greek word meaning "character" that is used to display characteristic beliefs that become guidelines that describe the characteristics of a society, nation, or ideology. The Greeks also used this word to refer to the power of music to influence emotions, behavior, and even morality.[1] The early Greek story of Orpheus compellingly demonstrates this idea. The use of this word in rhetoric is closely based on the Greek term used by Aristotle in his concept of the three arts of proof or means of persuasion.

Today at SK Gual To'Deh, a crucial meeting was held to discuss the implementation of ethos in the school. The school administration and the secretary of each unit were present, and the headmaster, Mr. Bakri B Md Nor, warmly welcomed the teachers. Mr. Bakri explained the significance of ethos and how it can transform the school's culture. He suggested that Touch Rugby should be the primary ethos of the school. This will help instill a sense of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship among the students. All documentation will be in Malaysian, and there will be English versions available on the Center for English and 21st Century Education blog. This will help disseminate the ethos to a wider audience and promote the school's ethos culture. To get started, there will be a benchmark visit to SK Bunohan, Tumpat, which is renowned for its thriving ethos culture. This visit will help the school administration and teachers gain insights into the best practices of ethos implementation. Overall, the meeting was a resounding success, and we look forward to the implementation of ethos at SK Gual To'Deh. With everyone's support and commitment, we can create a positive, empowering, and transformative environment for our students.

Rugby became popular in 1871 in schools in England. Then the Rugby Club announced the official rules of the game of rugby in London ten years later. In 1895 the Rugby League was established with 13 games along with more professional rules. Rugby began to expand around the world and matches between countries were held. Various changes have been made. In 1880 the scrum was modified scrum to mean the act or method of restarting the game after a foul when both opponents pack forward together with their heads down and press each other to gain ground while the scrumhalf throws the ball and the midfielder (hooker) tries to grab the ball for their team. players are usually called by the referee (set crowd) but can be formed spontaneously (loose crowd).

Reading Corner

Greetings and welcome to the Reading Corner, presented by the English Panel. This remarkable space was built in November of 2023 with the kind assistance of a non-governmental organization, totaling nearly RM3000. Our primary mission is to create a cozy and welcoming environment for students to foster a passion for reading. Additionally, we strive to establish a reading culture among students, urging them to venture into the extensive universe of literature and expand their knowledge. Through this Reading Corner, we aspire to motivate and enable young minds to uncover the pleasures of reading for many years to come.

Public speaking

Sample 1 Hey there! I'm Ali, a confident 11-year-old student from Rantau Panjang, Kelantan, Malaysia. I attend SK Gual To'Deh and I'm currently in year 5. Among all my school subjects, I excel in English the most. In fact, I aspire to become a teacher when I grow up, as I strongly believe that education is the key to success in life. In my free time, you can find me playing football or fishing with my best friend and father. Amir, my classmate and good friend, also helps me a lot with my studies. He lives just a 10-minute walk away from the school and is the second child in his family. Our English teacher, Sir Mazeri, is a great teacher who uses information technology (IT) to make our lessons more interactive and fun. I'm determined to be an outstanding student and make my parents proud. Always remember, education is the backbone to success in life.

Moreh

Following the Terawih prayer, a gathering of esteemed head teachers, former head teachers, and other teachers was held at a nearby restaurant. As per the Malay culture, cole is a well-known delicacy to be relished after the prayer. This informal meeting served as an opportunity to foster stronger relationships among the teachers. By coming together in a casual, friendly setting, they could exchange ideas, share experiences, and support one another in their common goal of enriching their students' lives.

Be Yourself - Chapter One

Be Yourself When you meet someone you like until you feel completely fascinated. You don't have to change or align yourself with him or try to act like the person the other person wants you to be. You must therefore become a person of great taste, strong, quiet, or even mysterious. But what kind of person will it be? I want it to be you. That I'm not pretending to be brave. Because at least I won't have to keep telling jokes. Or sit and feel sad because you're doing something you're still studying for?
My friend Iv from France in Cambodia. Well, who can pretend all the time? At most, you can only do it for a day or two, or at best, for a month or two. But it would be quite serious if we forced each other to act together for the rest of our lives. If at all you think that this person is someone you know, Be the person you choose to be with for another half-century. Just think about it for fun. So you can see how uncomfortable it would be to have to act like a neat person for 50 years or have to restrain yourself from joking with anyone. You don't want this to happen to your mother. Do you want to spend your whole life hiding behind a mask of your creation? If you picture yourself in front of you I don't think you want that. A person who is not like you at all. But I did it because I was afraid that the other party would stop dating. Don't you think that in Vele it won't be long? You have to punish the other person for letting him see the real you. Until then, the other party probably won't be impressed with you. And if this happened to me It was discovered that the other party had been playing tricks throughout their relationship. You probably wouldn't be that impressed either, right? But I'm not stopping you from developing yourself. People should improve themselves. We have to develop ourselves in every aspect, not just love. After every effort to improve You will manage your life more systematically. and see the world more brightly than walking Anyone who can change themselves is considered to be the best. But this law is saying that Changing one's basic personality is not beneficial. It will only tie itself to various problems. So please just be yourself. If possible, let's quickly introduce the real person from this moment. If you're not the person the other person is looking for, at least you won't have to worry about the day the other person finds out the truth. And do you know that the other party doesn't like snobby people? Delicious and luxurious taste It doesn't mean that acting like a tough guy and kind of person will always make him like him. He might like your hilarious personality. Or maybe the other person just wants to be with someone, stealing someone strong enough to take care of themselves. Please know that pretending to be someone other than who you originally is. It will only attract people who don't like you. And what's the point when other people might like your personality? I don't care if you have flaws or lack of talent. These people are confident in their individuality. See yourself as attractive even though you may have all your flaws. But he doesn't care. I think he saw it right. สลามผมชื่อแมทเป็นตัวของตัวเอง “I love you”

Take a moment to witness their eagerness to learn. It's truly inspiring to see individuals who are so dedicated to expanding their knowledge.

Teaching is often underestimated. Dealing with kids can be quite a challenge, and it takes a lot of effort and patience. It's not an easy job, contrary to what many people believe. Imagine facing a room full of students, each with a unique personality and learning style. It's a daunting task, and only the most dedicated and skilled teachers can do it with grace. As a youngster, my heart was set on becoming a doctor. However, it turns out that destiny had a different career path in store for me. Keep in mind that none of us can predict what lies ahead. Having worked with children for more than two decades, I take great pride in treating them as if they were my own. My experience and dedication have allowed me to create a safe and nurturing environment where children can grow and thrive. I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and I am committed to helping them do just that.
For over two years, I have been devoted to teaching in an aboriginal settlement. My first school, SK Pulat in Gua Musang, was a village I had never set foot in before. Despite the initial culture shock, I have grown to love this remote area and the students that I teach. It is an experience that has enriched my life and broadened my horizons. I am passionate about teaching and I strongly believe in the potential of each and every one of my students. I am dedicated to nurturing their individual personalities and interests, and as a highly qualified master's degree holder with extensive experience, I am confident that I can offer them a unique and well-rounded education, giving them the perspective they need to succeed.
I went to school near the border of Malaysia and Thailand, where I noticed something unique. Some of the students were familiar with two different cultures - Malay and Thai. A few of my students could speak a bit of Thai. I found myself adapting to these cultures and it motivated me to learn more about Thai culture and language. Nowadays, I am able to speak Thai myself. "I have written a few sentences in Thai." สวัสดีครับทุกๆตน ผมชื่อแมท ผมเป็นครูสอนภาษาอังกฦษที่โรงเรียน

Friday, March 8, 2024

Welcome to SK Gual To'Deh

For the session of 2024/25, SK Gual To'Deh received a new headmaster. He is Mr. Bakri Bin Md. Nor. His previous school was SK Bihai, Gua Musang. A young headmaster has various types of ideas to develop a new environment for the school. The headmaster is a leader, which is the top management of the school. He is the person who makes the decisions and guides the teachers to achieve the objectives of the school.
I have been here since 2018. I experienced the three previous headmasters with different leadership styles. The type of leadership shows the different environment of the school. As a leader, principal, or headmaster, you are supposed to understand the theory of leadership. It means they have to understand what kind of leadership style they need to use to develop a quality environment in the school. According to my research on the Masters Degree, the satisfaction of the teachers is consistent with the leadership style. It means the style of leadership can also affect the satisfaction of the teachers. Satisfaction in the workplace is very important, especially in the school environment. The less satisfaction of the teachers can have an effect on the teaching and learning process. Then it can have an effect on the student's achievement.  As a teacher and researcher, a school leader should have great individual character to influence the teachers. He or she is the main character at the school and the symbol of the school's reputation. I believe that with a great leadership style, the school will become conducive and knowledgeable for all students.  On behalf of the English Center, SK Gual To'Deh, a warm welcome greeting to the new headmaster, Mr. Bakri Bin Md Nor.

WELCOME TO THE NEW SESSION OF 2024/25

Assalamualaikum, it's nearly a month of school holidays, and tomorrow will be the first day of school in 2024. Teachers are always busy before the opening session to make sure everything looks fine for the first day. Teacher's are always excited to come to school nearly a week before the school session. On behalf of the English Center at SK Gual To'Deh, as the Head Panel I would like to welcome all teachers and students to the new school session. English is an important subject in Malaysia. This language has become a compulsory subject across our country. A few years ago, I planned a few activities to complete the yearly plan for the department. Highly Immersive Programme has been one of the annual programs since 3 years ago. This year will be the fourth for the HIP at my school. This year, the HIP will become more interesting, and I'll have participants from other schools. I have been teaching for more than two decades. Since 2000, when I was at the aborigine school at SK Pulat, I decided to teach English as a non-option. My major is music, and my minor is art. At the college, I am not into music but more into art. I painted a few oil paintings when I was at college. Some friends said he was gifted. Honestly, as an English teacher, I passed through the challenge by myself. I was attending a short-term course introduced by Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia. The course is called Program Intervensi Tambah Opsyen, or PITO in English. An officer, Pn. Rosnani Bt. Daud, who is the SISC, introduced me to this program. My session in Cohort 3 started in June 2023 and ended in July 2023. The convocation was held at PICC, Putrajaya, on October 23, 2023.
After I completed the PITO-Tesl, I was now declared an option English teacher. It's been a long journey to achieve this amazing moment. The graduation day was attended by all my kids. This is an achievement for my kids and for all my students. The new life of a student has begun. This year I started to further my study for a PhD at a local university. My research related to the PITO-Tesl. I hope one day I can help many non-options out there to continue their studies in any condition. It is important to increase their language level in English. สวัสดีครับ วันนี้ผมรู้มีความสุข ขอบคุณมากนะครับ
