A Visit to the Fire and Rescue Department

RANTAU PANJANG - The preschool pupils of SK Gual To’Deh recently had a meaningful and exciting educational visit to the Fire and Rescue Department in Rantau Panjang. This visit was part of the school’s effort to expose young children to real-life experiences, safety awareness, and community services. The trip proved to be highly beneficial as the pupils not only enjoyed themselves but also gained valuable knowledge about fire safety and emergency preparedness.

The preschool pupils were very excited to take photographs in front of the Rantau Panjang Fire and Rescue Department. With cheerful smiles and lively expressions, they posed happily together. This memorable moment not only captured their joy but also marked the valuable learning experience they had during the educational visit.

Upon arrival, the group was warmly welcomed by the officers on duty. The friendliness and patience of the firefighters made the children feel comfortable and excited to learn. Their hospitality created a positive environment that encouraged the pupils to engage actively throughout the program.

The visit began with a short briefing by one of the officers. During this session, the children were introduced to the importance of fire safety, the role of firefighters, and simple steps to follow in case of an emergency. The information was delivered simply and clearly, making it easy for the preschoolers to understand.

After the briefing, the children were allowed to explore a fire engine. This was one of the highlights of the day as the pupils were thrilled to climb aboard the big red truck. They were shown the equipment used by firefighters, such as hoses, helmets, and rescue tools. The experience left a lasting impression on the children, giving them a sense of admiration for the bravery of the firefighters.

The pupils also learned about the rescue boat, which is used during floods and water-related emergencies. This was especially relevant for the community as Rantau Panjang often faces seasonal floods. The children were fascinated to see how firefighters are prepared to save lives not only during fires but also in other dangerous situations.

The most exciting part of the visit was the simulation activities. The officers guided the pupils through a fire drill on how to escape safely during a fire. The children practiced moving in an orderly manner and learned to stay calm in emergencies. They also participated in a hands-on simulation of putting out a small fire, under the close supervision of the officers.

Overall, the visit was an enriching experience. It successfully combined fun with education, leaving the preschoolers with lasting memories and valuable lessons on safety and responsibility.

Kem Jati Diri at Lata Bijih

On a bright morning, SK Gual To’Deh successfully organized a Self-Identity Camp at Lata Bijih, located in the district of Tanah Merah. The camp was held to strengthen students’ resilience, discipline, teamwork, and leadership through outdoor and challenging activities. A total of 82 pupils from Year 4 to Year 6 participated in this meaningful program, making it a memorable experience not only for the pupils but also for the teachers who accompanied them.

During the obstacle course activity, the pupils had their faces smeared with charcoal, giving them the feeling of being real soldiers in jungle training. The experience not only boosted their excitement but also strengthened their courage, teamwork, and determination to complete every challenge with pride and resilience.

The journey began early in the morning. The pupils gathered at school, filled with excitement, and carried their bags, food supplies, and outdoor equipment. At exactly 7.45 a.m., the bus departed from SK Gual To’Deh, and after about an hour, the group arrived safely at Lata Bijih. Upon arrival, the pupils were welcomed by the camp management team, who immediately conducted a short briefing. The briefing covered important safety measures, rules, and the schedule of activities.

The first activity was jungle trekking. This was one of the highlights of the program as it tested the pupils’ stamina, endurance, and ability to adapt in a natural environment. Walking through the dense forest, the pupils learned to appreciate nature while working together as a team. Along the trail, they faced challenges such as climbing slopes, crossing small streams, and identifying plants. Teachers guided them to be cautious yet confident, ensuring no one was left behind. At the end of the trek, the pupils prepared a simple meal in the forest. Cooking in the wilderness taught them survival skills, cooperation, and creativity in using limited resources.

After the jungle trekking session, the pupils returned to the campsite for a short break. They performed their prayers, refreshed themselves, and got ready for the next activity. The afternoon program continued with the obstacle course, which was held in a nearby oil palm plantation. This session was designed to build courage, confidence, and problem-solving skills among the pupils. They had to crawl under nets, balance on logs, climb over barriers, and cross muddy paths. The laughter, cheers, and teamwork were clearly visible as the pupils encouraged one another to complete the tasks.

What made the camp truly special was the spirit shown by the participants. Many pupils admitted that it was their first time experiencing such outdoor challenges, yet they embraced the activities with enthusiasm and determination. Teachers observed that the camp provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to showcase leadership, responsibility, and independence outside the classroom. The camp also nurtured friendships among pupils of different classes and levels, strengthening the sense of unity within the school community.

The program was not only about physical activities but also about instilling values. Respect for nature, teamwork, discipline, and self-confidence were among the main elements emphasized throughout the camp. Teachers reminded the pupils to practice good manners, support each other, and always be grateful for the opportunities given.

The camp concluded the following day with a reflection session where pupils shared their experiences and lessons learned. They expressed happiness, pride, and a sense of achievement for completing the program. It was indeed an unforgettable memory for SK Gual To’Deh.

In conclusion, the Self-Identity Camp at Lata Bijih was a successful initiative that brought meaningful impact to the pupils. It combined adventure, education, and moral values, providing pupils with skills and memories that will stay with them for years to come. The program also reflected the school’s commitment to providing holistic education that goes beyond the classroom, preparing pupils to face challenges in life with confidence and resilience.
