Training Week Ignites the Spirit of Sportsmanship Among Students

SK GUAL TO'DEH - This week, the school is filled with excitement as preparations for the upcoming Annual Sports Day are in full swing. Each sports house—Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow—has been conducting intensive training sessions for three consecutive days, with two hours of practice each day. These sessions are not only aimed at improving students’ physical fitness but also serve as a selection process to identify the best representatives for each event in the inter-house competition.

The picture shows students practicing in their respective groups.

Among the highlighted events are sprinting, long jump, and sepak takraw. Sprinting always attracts great attention as it tests students’ speed and endurance. Those who perform well during training will be chosen to represent their respective houses in the 100-meter and 200-meter races. House teachers guide the participants on proper running techniques, including warming up, starting positions, and finishing strategies to ensure both speed and safety.

For the long jump event, training takes place on a sandpit specially prepared by the school. Students are taught how to control their running speed, position their feet during the jump, and land safely to avoid injuries. This activity requires leg strength, balance, and strong concentration.

Meanwhile, sepak takraw has become a favorite among male students who enjoy team-based sports. The training sessions are held at the multipurpose court under the supervision of the physical education teachers. Students practice essential skills such as juggling the ball, serving, and performing spikes correctly. Apart from enhancing motor skills, this activity also fosters teamwork and cooperation among team members.

Throughout the training period, the school atmosphere is filled with cheers and laughter, showing the students’ strong sportsmanship and enthusiasm. Teachers continue to motivate them, reminding everyone not to give up easily. These training activities also help build self-discipline, determination, and resilience among students.

In conclusion, the three-day training sessions leading up to the Annual Sports Day are not merely about competition—they are valuable opportunities to cultivate cooperation, discipline, and a spirit of sportsmanship. All members of the school community eagerly await the big day, hoping that this year’s event will be both successful and memorable.
